The Metalia Spagtagus, commonly known as the white sea gopher, it as beautiful as it is delicate. It's a species of echinoderms in the family heart urchin. Heart urchins are usually oval or heart-shaped (hints the name). The test (internal skeleton) is rather fragile with four porous spaces, or petaloids. Generally speaking, heart urchins spend most of their life burrowing into the sand on the sea floor. As you might of guessed, that's where the sea gopher gets it's name. They can grow up to 6 inches and inhabits the intertidal zone down to depths of 130 meters! An interesting fact considering how delicate these specimens are.

All shells and sea life vary in size and shape. You will receive a high quality specimen of the selected item but not the exact one pictured.
