The Neurobasis chinensis, commonly known as the Green Metalwing Damselfly, is a vibrant damselfly species belonging to the family Calopterygidae. Native to Asia, it is often found near slow-moving streams and rivers in tropical and subtropical regions. The males are known for their brilliant metallic green bodies and iridescent green wings, which they use to display during courtship rituals. Females are less vividly colored, with transparent wings and more subdued tones. These damselflies play a vital role in freshwater ecosystems as both predators of smaller insects and prey for larger species, contributing to the ecological balance.
