About The Beetle:
The Cyclommatus canaliculatus, commonly known as a Longjaw Stag Beetle, is a remarkable species from Southeast Asia characterized by its distinctive elongated mandibles with prominent inner teeth in males. With their striking dark red-brown to blackish exoskeleton, these forest-dwelling beetles create a dramatic specimen for preservation. In their natural habitat, these beetles play an essential ecological role in wood decomposition processes, with adults emerging from pupation to feed primarily on nutrient-rich tree sap.
