The human rib is one of 24 curved bones that form the rib cage, which protects vital organs like the heart and lungs. Each rib connects to the spine at the back and most connect to the sternum at the front, creating a flexible yet protective cage. Ribs also play a key role in breathing, expanding and contracting the chest cavity to allow air in and out of the lungs. Along with muscles and cartilage, the ribs help maintain the structure of the torso while enabling movement, making them an essential part of the body’s framework.

Human Bone Laws & Information:

In short, it is perfectly legal to possess and sell human bones in the United States. There are a few exceptions to this: a few states have banned import and export, and of course, any archaeological resources protected by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
