Here’s a little about Edward Gorey, the brilliant mind behind the creatures in this sticker book! Gorey wrote and illustrated over 100 books, designed stage sets and costumes, wrote plays, and even created the animated opening for the TV series Mystery! He imagined a huge menagerie of fantastical creatures—some creepy, some lovable, some monstrous, and some just delightfully odd—along with a cast of peculiar people. His characters are instantly recognizable thanks to his signature pen-and-ink crosshatch style.
Gorey loved giving his creatures playful names, like figbash and wuggly ump, and his stories often involved mystery, intrigue, disappearances, and other strange happenings. He was also a huge fan of ballet and adored cats, something you might have guessed!
This sticker book lets you play with 50 of Gorey’s characters from several of his books, including The Black Doll, Category, Dancing Cats, The Doubtful Guest, The Epiplectic Bicycle, and The Gashlycrumb Tinies. There are 185 stickers in total, featuring Count Dracula, ice-skating polar bears and alligators, figbashes in ballet slippers, children riding strange dogs, and much more. Have fun stickering!
