The Morpho hecuba, often called the Giant Owl Butterfly or Sunset Morpho, is a striking and enigmatic species renowned for its impressive size and unique wing patterns. Native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, this butterfly boasts wings that can span up to eight inches, making it one of the largest in the Morpho genus.

Its earthy brown hues, adorned with intricate eye spots resembling an owl's eyes, serve as a masterful defense mechanism against predators.
