The show stopper of any Butterfly collection, the Blue Morpho dazzles all with it's vivid coloration and metallic sheen. These colors are not a result of pigmentation but rather are an example of iridescence. The colors produced vary with viewing angle but they are actually surprisingly uniform. This is perhaps due to the diamond-like structural arrangement of the scales called "photonic crystal".

Morpho deidamia is a butterfly species from the Nymphalidae family, primarily found in Central and South America. Known for its large size and stunning iridescent blue wings, it is often admired for its striking beauty. The upper side of its wings displays a vibrant blue coloration, while the underside is brown and patterned with eyespots, helping it blend into its surroundings when at rest. Morpho deidamia typically inhabits tropical rainforests and flies at canopy level, feeding on fermenting fruits. Its mesmerizing flight and brilliant color make it a favorite among butterfly watchers and nature enthusiasts.
