An unusual example of just how strange and complicated development can be, this domestic goat (Capra hircus) exhibits a rare congenital condition known as partial conjoined twinning, or duplicitas posterior.

The condition occurs very early in embryonic development when a single embryo begins to divide but does not completely separate. In this case, that resulted in two partially developed bodies sharing a single head and upper torso. The specimen has duplicated pelvic girdles, hind limbs, and vertebral columns extending from a shared thoracic region, while the skull and forequarters developed as a single individual.

Conjoined twinning like this is exceptionally uncommon and occurs naturally as a spontaneous developmental abnormality rather than an inherited trait.

Beyond being an incredibly unusual anatomical specimen, it offers a fascinating look at vertebrate development and the remarkably complex series of events that have to unfold for a body to form before birth.

All orders ship same or next business day with exception to oversized items. Those items will be identified in the description (Items such as large taxidermy, skulls or exceedingly heavy minerals).

If the subtotal of your order is over $98 the shipping is free (the discount is applied automatically to the cart at checkout)

If there is an issue with your order or something arrives damaged, we will refund or replace the item.

Oversized items are only available for pick-up or if you arrange the shipping yourself. This will be indicated in the item description. However, we do have a very reliable and affordable option for shipping.
