The Actias luna, commonly known as the Luna Moth, is a large and strikingly beautiful moth belonging to the family Saturniidae, found in North America. Its pale green wings, adorned with eye spots and long trailing hindwing tails, make it one of the most recognizable moths. The Luna Moth is primarily nocturnal and is attracted to light. Adults have a short lifespan of about a week, during which they do not eat, relying on stored energy to reproduce. The larvae feed on a variety of trees, such as hickory, walnut, and birch, playing an important role in forest ecosystems.
