Ruby zoisite is a wonderous stone combined of both ruby and zoisite crystals in a single specimen (hint’s the pretty obvious name). It is also known as 'anyolite', a name derived from the Masai word for 'green' and discovered . Other names include "ruby-in-zoisite" and "Tanganyika artstone". It was first discovered in 1949 near the foot of the Kilimanjaro mountains in the Longido mining district of Tanzania. To this day, it is still the world's only source for ruby-in-zoisite. It’s found in relatively small pockets which adds another layer of value since the quantity and scale mined is so limited. Ruby zoisite typically is a mix of three different colors: green, black and pinkish red. The green is owed to its zoisite composition; pink and red hues are owed to the presence of ruby (corundum) and hornblende adds to black coloration. This blending of minerals and colors really makes this a beautiful stone and a must have for any mineral collector.

According to Metaphysics: Ruby Zoisite has a strong spiritual nature that is believed to give access to one's soul memory. Along those lines, many see it as a spiritual stone that can be used to rekindle your spiritual self. Since it is a combination of minerals, it has a distinct mix of metaphysical properties. Ruby is the stone of courage and strength that alleviates fear or anxiety that we face on a day to day basis. Green Zoisite’s energy produces harmony, growth and fertility in our daily lives. These combined properties make it a very effective meditation tool and a highly sought after stone for these looking to dive deeper into one's subconscious.
