Wouldn’t it be neat if you never needed to drink water ever again? Well, probably not for those of us who enjoy a cold drink on a hot day, but the steenbok apparently doesn’t fall into that category.

Along with being so cute it hurts, these antelopes are masters of living in dry, open environments. They are so good at it that they don’t even need to drink water. They get all their hydration from plants, fruits, and roots, which is perfect for dry environments. Yeah, it’s a technicality, but it’s a cool one.

Unlike many antelope, they prefer to live alone or in pairs. They mark and defend small territories using scent glands and dung. Charming, right?

One of the attributes that makes them so dang cute is their big ears. While aesthetically it’s a big win for them, they aren’t just for show. They have incredibly good hearing, which helps them avoid predators or awkward social moments when they just need some “me time.”

This mount is perfect for smaller spaces and looks great on a mantel.
