These beautiful geodes are really something of a marvel. Inside the somewhat innocuous geode, an entire world of sparkling delights await. The enchanting pink and red drusies gleam within and formations are absolutely stunning. If you couldn’t tell, we’re pretty enamored with them.
For the past 30 years, the mines near Tarazout in Morocco have produced these very mysterious, beautiful, and rare quartz perimorph geodes. At first they were referred to has psuedomorphs or quartz after other minerals, but they are actually perimorphs. Perimorphs are different from pseudomorphs because they do not replace the earlier minerals but rather form a crust on top of them. They are normally found within a hard basalt, and contain very unique forms which have sometimes earned them the name "stalactitic quartz geodes'.
