The Rose Chafer (Cetonia aurata) is a small but ridiculously flashy beetle found throughout much of Europe and parts of Asia. On warm, sunny days, they can often be spotted buzzing around flowers, particularly roses, where they feed on pollen and nectar.

Their metallic shells shift between deep green, blue, and hints of gold depending on the light. And despite their somewhat tank-like appearance, Rose Chafers are surprisingly capable flyers.

This specimen has been preserved in clear resin with its wings gently spread, giving you a close-up look at both the beetle and its impressive coloration from every angle. It's a great little natural history specimen for a desk, shelf, or growing collection of strange things in blocks.

As with all real specimens, size, coloration, and positioning will vary slightly.
