This beautiful sphere is Rhodochrosite. But what is it? Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral that ranges in color from light pink to bright red. It is found in a small number of locations worldwide where other manganese minerals are usually present. It's usually found in differing shades of pink with a few black veins crossing it's surface. The black is due to the presence of some form of manganese oxides. In any case, we're in love with it.
