This colorful illustration of an octopus is from the book "The Cephalopods". It was first published in Germany in 1910 by Carl Chun, a marine biologist. Chun is best known for discovering and naming the vampire squid (Vampyroteuthis infernalis, which means "vampire squid from hell").
