At first glance, you might think, “Hey, a cool rose quartz tower,” but it’s actually not rose quartz at all. It’s Mangano calcite, and it’s hiding a secret that can only be seen under UV light.

These pink crystal towers are made from a manganese-rich variety of calcite known for its soft pink color, which can range from a barely-there blush to a much richer rosy hue. That same manganese is also responsible for one of this mineral’s cooler tricks: under longwave UV light, it fluoresces a bright pink to reddish-orange.

It’s always fun when a crystal has a secret, and this one is pretty rad.
