Acrocinus longimanus, commonly known as the harlequin beetle, is a large and visually striking species of beetle found in Central and South America. It belongs to the Cerambycidae family, known for its long, distinctive antennae. The beetle's body features a bold pattern of black, red, and yellow markings, resembling a harlequin’s costume, which helps it blend into its surroundings. Males are known for their exceptionally long forelegs, which are used during mating displays. Acrocinus longimanus primarily inhabits tropical forests, where it feeds on decaying wood and plays an important role in nutrient recycling within the ecosystem.
