Mohrite is a rare ammonium iron sulfate mineral originally found in the geothermal fields of Tuscany, Italy. Named after the famous analytical chemist Karl Friedrich Mohr, this Fe-dominant analog of boussingaultite is found in various geologic environments and is prized by mineral collectors for its rarity and unique properties This Fe-dominant analogue of boussingaultite is sometimes reported from burning coal dumps where it is a product of pyrite oxidation. While that isn't the most charming of places for crystallization to happen, the results are undeniable pretty. The crystals take on a sugary appearance that reminds us of rock candy (please do not eat it).
All minerals and stones vary in size and shape. You will receive a high quality specimen of the selected item but not the exact one pictured. All minerals, gems, stones and fossils are guaranteed to be top quality; sourced from ethical vendors around the world.
