Building this wooden mini model kit helps demonstrate how a bent bow stores elastic energy and the mechanical advantage of a lever to multiply human force. Once built, you can launch mini projectiles and defeat those pesky beasts.

The renowned Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci designed this crossbow. He was also a scientist, architect, engineer, and inventor. While we may have put this through an inshrinkerator, it would have been an intimidatingly giant crossbow or “ballista”. This design of a complex system of gears and pulleys demonstrates engineering and mechanics.
