The kudu is often thought of as the most handsome of the tragelaphine antelopes, a group that also includes the bongo, eland, nyala, bushbuck, and sitatunga. With their tall, graceful build, striking stripes, and those incredible spiraled horns, it is easy to see why they stand out. Kudus are a type of antelope that you will mostly find roaming through mixed shrub woodlands and wide, open savanna plains across eastern and southern Africa.

Even though they look elegant and relaxed, they are very cautious animals. Kudus depend on thick, tangled thickets as their main hiding spots. Whenever they sense danger, they slip quietly into the dense brush, where their striped coats help them blend into the shadows and branches. This simple but effective strategy is how they manage to stay safe from predators.
