The Japanese Rhinoceros beetle is known in Japan as the kabutomushi (kabuto for samurai helmet, mushi for insect). They are such a part of Japanese pop culture that they are even sold as pets in department stores. Their long horn forms the shape of a letter Y and is used to battle other males for preferred mates. This behavior has made the beetles extremely popular in gambling, where two male beetles are placed on a log and the one that remains is deemed the winner. The male is approximately 40-80mm.
(This beetle bolo is in the sweet spot at 60mm long.)
