The sternum, or breastbone, is a flat, elongated bone located at the center of the chest. It connects to the ribs via cartilage, forming the front of the rib cage and helping protect vital organs like the heart and lungs. The sternum consists of three parts—the manubrium, body, and xiphoid process—which provide attachment points for muscles involved in breathing and arm movement. By anchoring the ribs and supporting the upper body, the sternum plays a crucial role in both protection and stability.
Human Bone Laws & Information:
In short, it is perfectly legal to possess and sell human bones in the United States. There are a few exceptions to this: a few states have banned import and export, and of course, any archaeological resources protected by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
