Hematite is a magnetic mineral composed of iron oxide, known for its high iron content. Its name comes from the Greek word for "blood" because its surface often has a deep red color. This mineral is usually found in layers at the bottom of bodies of water, but it can also be formed through volcanic activity. Interestingly, hematite was even discovered on the surface of Mars in 2001!
