Black tourmaline, with its hard, jet-black crystal lines, combined with mica, creates an insanely cool specimen that is truly unlike any other. These caught our eye on a buying trip, and we’ve been slightly obsessed with them ever since.

But how did these two become friends forever? Good question. Black tourmaline grows in long, striated crystals from hot, mineral-rich fluids flowing through rocks, while mica also forms in these conditions. Essentially, they're roommates. The mica forms on the surface of the tourmaline, and over time, the tourmaline crystals grow around it, locking it in place. The mica signed a long-term rent agreement, and the result is these rad crystals.

We say this a lot when it comes to crystals, minerals, and fossils, but for these to form, the conditions need to be absolutely perfect. These are definitely proof of that.

According to metaphysics, black tourmaline with mica is considered an even more protective, grounding, and spiritually “reflective” stone than plain black tourmaline. It’s a two-for-one, double punch of protective energy.
