The springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis) is a graceful and agile antelope native to southern Africa. Known for its distinctive white face, reddish-brown coat, and a unique fold of skin running along its back, the springbok is famous for its pronking behavior, where it leaps high into the air. These antelopes inhabit dry, open plains and savannas, primarily in Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, and Angola. Springboks are herbivores, feeding on grasses, leaves, and shrubs. They are well-adapted to arid environments and can survive without water for extended periods, obtaining moisture from the plants they consume. Social animals, springboks form herds that can range from a few individuals to several hundred, particularly during the rainy season. Fun fact: The springbok is the national animal of South Africa and symbolizes resilience and vitality.
