These massive crystals are truly breath taking to behold.

Here's a bit about amethyst in general:

One of the poster children for the crystal world is the one and only amethyst. Instantly recognized by its various shades of purple, it’s a staple in any crystal collection and kind of a must-have for anyone drawn to the treasures of the earth. Its formation is the byproduct of the powerful engine that is our planet. When the perfect mix of quartz and iron is present, natural radiation from surrounding rocks alters the iron in the quartz, giving it that signature purple hue. This transformation unfolds slowly over millions of years, under just the right conditions of temperature, pressure, and chemistry. While it may be a common crystal in today’s world, amethyst remains nothing short of a miraculous marvel of nature.

The name "amethyst" comes from the Ancient Greek word meaning “not intoxicated,” a nod to the belief that the stone could ward off drunkenness. The Greeks not only wore amethyst but also crafted drinking vessels from it, trusting in its sobering powers. Cleopatra herself was said to wear an amethyst ring engraved with the image of Mithras, the Persian god of light.

Amethyst is a semiprecious stone and one of several forms of quartz. It also holds the title of traditional birthstone for February. Once as expensive as ruby and emerald, its value shifted in the 19th century with the discovery of large deposits in Brazil. Today, as the most prized variety of quartz, amethyst is sought after in everything from high-end designer pieces to everyday jewelry, with its vibrant violet to soft pastel hues continuing to captivate collectors and consumers alike.

According to Metaphysics: Amethyst is a calming and meditative stone that works on emotional, spiritual, and physical levels to foster calm, balance, patience, and peace. It is commonly used in spiritual practices to deepen your connection to your inner self and enhance intuitive abilities. Beyond boosting intuition, Amethyst’s metaphysical properties aid in finding inner peace, helping you relax and unwind when you need it most—whether before sleep, during stressful times, or prior to meditation.
