766 Valencia St. Paxton Gate conference room

A master of camouflage or the drunken hooligans of South America? The owl butterfly has been called a lot of things but boring was never one of them. The very distinct patterns on their wings give the illusion of a large lurking raptor. Resembling a terrifying owl means not a lot of creatures will be brave enough to take the risk and attack. When it's not faking out predators, it spends most of its life drinking the fermented juices of bananas while enjoying the side effects. As the sun goes down and they day drinking has finally come to an end, the males take flight to battle one another for a date. If it weren't for their wings tricking everyone into believing they were owls, that might never have found the time to get tanked and start fights with each other. Evolution is really a beautiful thing.

In this two-hour class, we'll teach you step-by-step how to hydrate, spread, pin, and preserve your own insects. You'll get hands-on experience spreading and pinning one , and you'll get to take your new intricate beauty home at the end of the class. This surprisingly Zen activity is highly-recommended as an essential part of the Paxton Gate experience.

Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the date of the class. Cancellations will be converted to credit that can either be used toward merchandise in the store or to enroll in another workshop.
