While cherry quartz is a man made crystal, it's beautiful none the less! It's created by combining natural quartz with cinnabar, a mineral that contains mercury sulfide. The exact origins of Cherry Quartz are unclear, but it is believed to have been first produced in China in the early 2000s. To create Cherry Quartz, natural quartz is crushed and mixed with cinnabar. The mixture is then heated at a high temperature to create a fusion of the two materials. This process results in the beautiful pinkish-red color and translucency of Cherry Quartz. The addition of cinnabar is also believed to give Cherry Quartz some unique metaphysical properties. Speaking of which...
