We're a little nutty over this cute guy. Squirrels live in almost every habitat from tropical rain forest to semiarid desert, avoiding only the high polar regions and the driest of deserts. The Xerus is commonly known as the African ground squirrel and is native to Africa. These animals are diurnal and mostly herbivorous. They are very social and live in burrows like their cousins the marmots and prairie dogs. Fun fact: these squirrels are not known to hide food like other squirrels. Instead, they go out hunting for food daily and don’t keep steady storage.
