Nutria, also known as coypu, is a species of rodent that is native to South America. They are a semi-aquatic creature which means that it spends half of its life in the water. Nutria are excellent swimmers that can spend 5 minutes under water without returning to the surface to breathe. They were introduced to Europe, Asia and North America in the previous century because of their luxurious fur and potentially lucrative business associated with it but the Nutria had other plans. A large amount of them escaped and the tiny rodent has become somewhat of a nuisance. Talk about your serious fashion error.
