Sunday, September 16th
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
With giant jaws that resemble the antlers of a male elk or deer, these beetles are taking "going stag" literally. Spending most of their life as larva, the stag beetle only comes to the surface to mate. Maybe they're just very shy or they have too much going on for a committed relationship? Whatever the case may be, when they do face the light of day they do it with a impressive display of menacing jaws. After all, nothing says "I'm looking for love" like a pair of antler like appendages, half the size of your body, sticking out from your face. Join us as well deep dive into the subterranean life of one of nature's latest bloomers and possibly unravel it's gravitation to the bachelor lifestyle.
In this two-hour class, we'll teach you step-by-step how to hydrate, spread, pin, and preserve your own insects. You'll get hands-on experience spreading and pinning one , and you'll get to take your new intricate beauty home at the end of the class. This surprisingly Zen activity is highly-recommended as an essential part of the Paxton Gate experience.
Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the date of the class.
